Charlotte Napier, Project Co-ordinator

Charlotte joined e-mpirical to advance her experience in project management and co-ordination as this is the career path that she decided to pursue after much consideration after leaving university. Charlotte graduated in 2009. She has taken responsibility for the Digital Champions project which is about disadvantaged and excluded members of the community acquiring digital skills. This particularly resonated with her after having volunteered in disadvantaged areas in inner-city London whilst at university.
Charlotte gained considerable experience of project work from her volunteering activities whilst at university. She was one of the founding members of pro bono -law-based volunteering- activity at King’s College London in 2007. She has been Training Co-ordinator on the Streetlaw public legal education project. This involved working in a team training volunteers new to the project in preparation for their roles in delivering the project. She went on to establish and lead King’s Law Mentoring Project in the 2007/2008 academic year. This project was popular amongst students and law firms alike and she soon had to pull together a committee to support her in delivering the activities. But committees aren’t Charlotte’s favourite thing so she maintained an active role as a volunteer for Streetlaw whilst running the Law Mentoring Project.
Charlotte went on to become the first KCLprobono President after setting up a society to further the interests of the existing and potential volunteering projects at King’s. She was announced as a Pro Bono Hero on the roll call of honour for 2009 by the Attorney General Baroness Scotland at a reception at the House of Lords.
In her spare time –we don’t know where she finds this-, Charlotte was a mentor in an autistic spectrum disorder class in a central London school as part of the SHINE project and an ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) tutor to several children with autism and one with Down’s Syndrome.
She is also an avid rugby supporter, supporting London Wasps and cheering them on as often as she can.
